

Excalibur - The Debate Event
Event Description : Students will be engaged in a formal discussion on a particular topic in which opposing arguments will be put forward. This will be a competition which tests the participants on their content, oratory skills and presence of mind. Students will be required to give their opinions on the following topic :
“The next step of evolution – Are we really trying to play God?”
Registration Rules :

A team can have a maximum of 3 members (two speakers, one speaking for the motion, one against the motion and one interjector).
Event Rules:

The speaking time for each speaker is 3 minutes, followed by one interjection per speaker. The time taken to answer interjections is not included in these 3 minutes.

There will be two warning bells. The first one will signify the last thirty seconds left out of time limit. And the latter one will mark the end of time limit.

Interjections will be invited only after the speaker completes.

Time given for each interjection is one minute.

Cross questioning is not allowed.

Each speaker will be marked on content, clarity, presentation and answers to interjections.

There will be at least two interjections per interjector.
Guidelines:

Indecency and Vulgarity in performance are strictly prohibited.

Teams are requested to take care not to spoil the venue.

The organizers have the right to disqualify any team if they do not follow the rules or are found to misbehave.

Decision of the Judges shall be final and binding.
