“Freedom to chart one's strategic destiny comes only to those game-‐aware enough to rise above the game, and determined enough to change the game to their own advantage.”
― David McAdams, Game Theory of Business and of Life

At one time or another, all great leaders experience something so big and so impactful, it literally changes the landscape – it’s what we call a “Game Changer.” A game changer is that phenomenal moment where you see something that others don’t. It’s the transformational magic that takes organizations from ordinary to exceptional.

Such moment does not come by itself. There are some who are never satisfied with the mundane, and so they come up with a big idea and work on it. They are not just dreamers but doers. Being original in their thinking, they refuse to adopt the orthodox, conventional bureaucracy. Instead, they challenge norms, break conventions and encourage diversity of thought. They redefine goals that involve innovating, improving and doing something out of the box. Their message is simple- Don’t play the game, Change the game.

For all companies that are successful today, the catalyst has been the Game Changing or Innovative Business Model. They have focussed on invention of new products or services and bringing innovations in areas of marketing including digital marketing, packaging, designing, product positioning, communication, logistics, or technology. They have also focussed on breakthroughs in organizational culture, work environment, customer care and service, employee health, job satisfaction, or organizational process.

The game changing operators convert ideas into new offerings. They motivate and lead, are not only self-aware but are also aware of the emotions and needs of others, and above all they embrace the market. They exhibit both intrinsic curiosity and extrinsic focus. Perhaps most of all, game changing leaders believe in and work on saying:

“There’s a way to do it better – find it.”
